It’s fair time!
The Frederick County Fair, a beloved six-day tradition held at the Frederick County Fairgrounds in Clear Brook, is back this week! For more than 50 years the fair has been held at this location, not far from Snowden Bridge. The 2025 fair runs from July 28 to August 2, following the pattern of beginning on the last Monday in July of each year. The fair has strong roots in agricultural education and community pride, and carries its own charm with a focus on 4 H, FFA, livestock exhibits, pageants and down-home entertainment. Each year, the fair draws volunteers, exhibitors and visitors, fostering a tight-knit local celebration with longstanding traditions.
The livestock shows feature hogs, lambs, goats, poultry, rabbits, and cattle, open to 4-H and FFA exhibitors. Guests can also participate in a number of exhibits, shows and contests, enjoy carnival rides and food trucks, live entertainment and so much more. And the list of grandstand events, with a different one each night, is sure to have something to entertain the whole family. Check out this year’s lineup:
o Monday: Bull Ride Mania Rodeo
o Tuesday: monster truck show
o Wednesday: lawn & garden tractor pulls
o Thursday: truck & tractor pulls
o Friday: dirt drag racing with evening live music
o Saturday: demolition derby
Rising star and talent shows, live bands and apple pie-eating contests will be happening on the south lawn stage, and circus acts will be available to watch twice each night at no extra cost. Attendees can even catch a mini Renaissance faire on the South Lawn. Interactive exhibits like pony rides, inflatables, balloon animals and a petting zoo are also available for families, and special events like a pig scramble and mutton busting will be happening at different times throughout the fair.
Daily admission is $10 for ages 12 and older, $5 for ages 6–11, and free for children 5 and under. Weekly passes are also available at $40 per adult and $20 per child for all six days. Free parking is available for all attendees.
Carnival ride value nights (Tuesday–Thursday) offer $20 armbands; Friday features ticket packs; Saturday armbands are $25. Discounts for active/retired military and first responders are available as well.
If you haven’t been able to tell yet, the list of this year’s fair events is quite large (and fun!). You can visit the fair’s website here for full event information and schedules of what’s happening when.
